2023 VW Taos features some new upgrades both inside and outside area. It shares a slightly the same appearance as Tiguan.

The 2023 VW Taos is the latest car from Volkswagen for the crossover segment in the United States market. The 2023 Taos is the fifth SUV belonging to this German brand whose popularity is under the Tiguan 2023. The automaker has plans to later replace the VW Golf marketed in the United States with the 2023 Taos.

A Detailed on New Taos Exterior

The arrival of the new generation Taos is the result of the automaker’s learning about the demands of customers who want a new variant in Volkswagen’s crossover lineup. As proof, the sales of Volkswagen’s 2023 Atlas and Tiguan are really sweet. 2023 Taos will give fans the option to drive a sporty crossover with a smaller exterior dimension but a bigger interior.

2023 VW Taos is expected to share a platform with the VW Tharu circulating in the Chinese market. The previous generation of Taos is marketed in Russia, South America, and the United States including North America. It has smaller dimensions than the Tiguan, so it gets the title of the sibling of the Tiguan with more compact dimensions.

A more modern design will be seen in the latest generation of Taos because the sculpted hood is more vivid and decorated with LED lights. The overall appearance of the 2023 Taos feels it will get more appreciation for its impressiveness in providing a panoramic sunroof as an optional.

If you look at it from the side, you will instantly remember the Tiguan because it uses extraordinary lines and a quadratic curved wheel design. The wheel size for each trim level is different, between 17 to 19 inches. The outer dimensions of the 2023 Taos are 9.3 inches lower when compared to the 2023 Tiguan, although the passenger space in the Taos is 1.6 cubic inches smaller.

Interior Features of 2023 Taos

Just as the exterior gets a more modern touch, the interior of the new Taos has also been revamped to match the premium style. The passenger seat will be polished with a dual-color. For higher trim levels, 2023 VW Taos will be beautified with luxurious leather upholstery, while in lower trims it will only use faux leather. There is a small cargo with a size of 28 cubic feet that you can find behind the second seat.

Although positioned as the sibling of the Tiguan with a compact body, this SUV or crossover has ample rear seat and trunk space. The material used for the interior makes Taos classy. 2023 Taos is equipped with a fully digital screen and several easy-to-operate control buttons.

In terms of technological features, Taos circulating in America uses an 8.0-inch touch screen, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All types get a digital instrument cluster as standard components. Now the highest variant gets the addition of ambient lights and an eight-speaker Beats audio system.

Engine Used with Possibility of Hybrid Version

For the 2023 VW Taos, the powerful engine that will be used is a turbocharged 1.5 liter inline 4-cylinder that can produce up to 158 HP and 184 lb-ft. of torque. For the FWD version, the 8-speed transmission will accompany the engine. As for the 4Motion AWD model, it will use a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The transmission shift on the Taos FWD feels smooth and the acceleration is so crisp. However, the AWD version is a bit rough. If it doesn’t seem attractive enough, the automaker will probably produce a hybrid or plug-in hybrid version for those who crave battery power. In terms of specifications, this urban crossover will compete with the Mazda CX-30, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, and Kia Seltos.

Same Safety Features as Tiguan

For safety features, all Taos are equipped with driver assistance called IQ. Drive. These include alerts for rear cross-traffic, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, front automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. The automatic high beams feature is only available on models that get the adaptive headlights feature.

Volkswagen has not provided information regarding the price of the 2023 VW Taos that will be tagged. If we are looking at the American market, the 2022 VW Taos is priced from US$ 28,400 to more than US$ 32,600. Maybe the price for the 2023MY is more or less the same or slightly more expensive than the 2022 model.
