How Much Will the 2023 Golf R Cost?

To date, the automaker has not provided any information regarding the official price of the 2023 Golf R. We can anticipate the price range will not be far from the MSRP of the previous generation which was $40,500. In comparison, the new Golf GTI is currently priced at $35,000 for the base trim level.

Will there be a 2023 Golf R?

Fans know that for the 2022 VW Golf R model, the automaker is still venturing into electric vehicles causing them to seem to ignore their fans’ expectations. That is why the 2023 VW Golf R, VW Golf GTI, and VW Jetta GLI are predicted to have a high level of customer demand.

Moreover, the Ford Focus RS, which has been the toughest rival of the Golf R in the previous generation, is rumored to be discontinuing its development and production. The new 2023 Golf R is likely to dominate the AWD segment in its class in the US market.

Exterior Look

Although at first glance it looks the same as its brother Golf GTI, the automaker has given a slight redesign in several corners of the exterior of the 2023 Golf R. An R-shaped front bumper adorns the front of the car with black-trimmed grille support, a sports-style splitter, and a blue bar with extending LED daylight to the fenders that will light up when the car is started.

Other upgrades, such as the use of 19-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in special summer sports tires, side skirts, and blue brake calipers were also added to the new Golf R. A sunroof and an ‘R’ logo on the exterior cover are standard across all trim levels. Especially for the hatchback trim level, the height is 0.8 inches lower than the base trim level.

Interior Look

Moving to the interior, the renewal will be seen in various lines. For example, on digital displays and controls. An infotainment system from the Discover Pro, a 10-inch touchscreen navigation system and an adjustable digital instrument panel are standard features across all trim levels. Nappa leather will give you comfort in sitting while driving. There’s an R button to give you a direct choice of the driving modes that Volkswagen provides.

A Better Engine than Previous Generation

A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is the mainstay of the 2023 VW Golf R to produce a power output of 315 HP and 310 lb-ft. of torque. This power output is slightly higher at 27 HP and 30 lb-ft. of torque when compared to the previous generation. The standard transmission used is a 6-speed manual. If you want another option, the automaker offers a 7-speed DSG dual-clutched gearbox.

This engine will receive direction from the AWD system which distributes power equally on all four wheels to provide a more comfortable and stable driving performance. The new Golf R is claimed to be able to reach speeds of 62 mph in 4.7 seconds, fast enough for its size in its class. Just compare it with the Honda Civic Type R which can only reach speeds of 62 mph in 5.7 seconds.

What Colors Does the 2023 Golf R Come in?

From the rumors circulating among fans, the 2023 VW Golf R will offer buyers 3 distinctive exterior color choices, namely Deep Black Pearl Effect, Pure White, and Blue Metallic. These colors match the sporty impression that the new Golf R has. The interior will also get a touch of ambient lighting with a total of 30 color choices for the door panels and dashboard.

Well, the performance of the 2023 VW Golf R will hopefully be able to compete with the Mini Cooper JCW, Veloster N Hyundai, or Honda Civic Type R. The launch date of the Golf R is not yet certain. Volkswagen is still silent and there are no definite rumors about this yet. However, we can anticipate that the new Golf R will hit the market before the end of 2022.
