The next XT4 model year marks the fourth production year of this vehicle. Explore the possible exterior, interior, and powertrain adjustments of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 here.
The Cadillac XT4 (Crossover Touring 4) was released for the first time in 2019 the model year 2018. It nests right below the mid-size SUV XT5 and serves as the luxury counterpart to the GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox. Despite a lot of people thinking of the model as still new, the small upscale crossover is actually already close to its mid-generation refresh, which is why it’s not entirely surprising that the prototype version of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 has been spotted testing in public. More details about it are below.
Prospective Exterior Redesign
Albeit being wrapped thickly in the face area and some faux plastic cladding, the visual upgrades are easy to notice. The spotted XT4 testing version suggests minimal changes, which should be good news for the fan of the current XT4’s appearance.
What might seem to be confusing at first is the round lights placed beneath the LED Daytime Running Light, as they look like temporary substituting components before the new final headlight styling. This means the upcoming XT4 may sport a set of new eyes, possibly mimicking the ones of the Lyriq EV. Refined lights typically translate to an upgraded fascia, but the familiar grille of the XT4 can still be seen peeking through the camouflage.
Shifting to the rear section, the stuffy cover may inform the public of a new taillight design, which seems to carry an L-shaped structure. That being said, the spied photos also indicate a set of new angles for the taillight housing.
Potential Interior Redesign
Even though the changes potentially brought by the exterior elements seem to be substantial, the real adjustments happen on the inside. One spy photograph of the upcoming 2024 Cadillac XT4 allows a peek at the interior. Detailed design cannot be made out, but by examining through the passenger windows, it is hard to miss the huge display. If it comes true, then it is going to be a massive departure from the current XT4. The huge display design follows the curved OLED screen on the Escalade that accommodates both the digital gauge and infotainment displays.
The updated screen is not the only notable upgrade of the upcoming XT4 in terms of technology. It is also rumored that it will be equipped with General Motors’ trademarked semi-autonomous driver assistance feature, SuperCruise. This means it will most likely ride on the most recent Global B electronic platform—although the new platform is not exactly required for the SuperCruise function.
Whether the 2024 Cadillac XT4 is going to offer the SuperCruise feature is not known yet as of now, but the party that got their hands on the spied photos mentioned “front-end sensors” that are predicted to support the mentioned technology.
Expected Powertrain and Release Details
At this point, it’s still early to say whether the XT4 will receive any adjustment regarding its powertrain lineup. The current model year is powered by a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates up to 235 HP paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Units reserved for the European market add an option of a 2L diesel engine that puts out up to 172 HP. There is no reason to suspect that the engine won’t make a round again for the upcoming model year. If there’s any change, it could be offered in the form of a hybrid engine as the brand is moving towards electrification.
The official revelation date of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 is not known yet, but it’s most possibly to be announced next year. It is expected to be produced again at the General Motors Fairfax manufacturing plant for the American market and in the Shanghai assembly plant for the Chinese market.
