2024 Nissan Rogue Midnight Edition: Review, Features & PriceThe 3rd-gen big upgrade came in the year 2000, with the introduction of a turbocharged, three-cylinder engine. On Tuesday, Nissan unveiled a few minor updates for 2024’s Rogue and the 2024 Nissan Rogue Midnight Edition. Midnight Edition is pictured above.

The Nissan Rogue is a class-leading compact SUV. The 2021 model year as well as newer versions assist in making the Rogue beat compact SUV competitors such as the Volkswagen Tiguan as well as the Subaru Forester and the Hyundai Tucson. The most recent update, which is with the introduction of the 2024 Nissan Rogue Midnight Edition to the SV trim level, has the blacked-out appearance of the already athletic Rogue.

Review

The site Cars offers an annual review of the best compact SUVs which, until recently the Rogue came in at the lowest. This all changed after the recently-redesigned 2021 Nissan Rogue stormed onto the scene, bringing the best in class “rear seat comfort and features, vehicle user interface (how users interact with the vehicle’s controls), multimedia (media feature offerings), and in-cabin storage.”

The 2021 Nissan Rogue, featuring a 181 horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, was previously tied with the Hyundai Tucson to be first within the “powertrain category,” Nissan unveiled a completely new engine for the 2022 model year. The brand new turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder that produces the equivalent of 201 horsepower with 225 lb-ft of torque, is able for 2023’s Rogue with front-wheel or all-wheel drive trains.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue Midnight Edition Package adds black 18-inch wheels, black exterior branding a black grille as well and roofing rails in black. The package also includes the power liftgate, a panoramic moonroof, leatherette seats heated front seats, and a steering wheel. Additionally, the blacked-out design will set buyers back $4195. It is offered for both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive Rogue S.

The 2024 Rogue comes with the turbocharged, new for 2023 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, which produces 200 horsepower and 225 lb-feet of torque. Every trim comes featuring FWD, and AWD costs $1,500. Other features that are standard are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for smartphones — available in or with the 8-inch standard screen or optional touchscreen of 9 inches — as well as Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite of safety options. Its Rogue Platinum comes standard with Nissan’s ProPilot Assist driver-assistance tech, which is an optional feature for the SL.

Nissan is offering an updated Midnight Edition of the 2023 Rogue SV. Nissan charges $4,195 cost for the upgrade it is not cheap however, it’s worth the cost because Midnight Edition provides more than simply a dark-colored appearance.

To pay for the cash-strapped, Nissan installs gloss-black 18-inch aluminum wheels and black accents on the exterior, the black badges, and Nissan’s TailorFit faux leather seats. The 2024 Nissan Rogue Midnight Edition also has a two-panel sunroof, heated seats in the front, and heated steering as well as rear window sunshades and a liftgate that can be operated from the rear.

Specs and Engine

In the year Nissan revamped its Rogue in 2021 it introduced a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that was fitted with an automatic transmission that was continuously variable. Its power output was measured at 181 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 181 pound-feet torque at 3,600 RPM, and the brand new Rogue was similar to that of the original Rogue with respect to its engine’s sound and acceleration.

One year after that, in 2022, Nissan changed the engine to an upgraded turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. The engine is equipped with Nissan’s unique variable compression technology that the company states gives engines strong performance when needed and good fuel efficiency throughout the year.

The VC-Turbo engine produces 5600 rpm, 201 horsepower, and produces 225 pound-feet of torque between 2,800 and 4,500 rpm. These are improvements of 20 hp and 44 lbs-feet are available with lower engine speed. The official Environmental Protection Agency fuel-economy estimates for the engine’s turbo three-cylinder are between 31 and 33 mpg when combined as opposed to the 28-30 mpg of the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine of the 2021 Rogue. During my testing, I got 28.9 mpg using the brand-new engine, compared to 27.5 milliliters with the previous model.

It wasn’t just that the 2024 Rogue better-performed by 1.4 milliliters per gallon, but it also felt much more powerful because of its increased force and torque. The sound is also better due to the 3-cylinder arrangement giving a much more pleasant sound over the 4-cylinder. But, it does appear to cause an unusual shifting and vibrating sound via the accelerator pedal each time you press it and I was never accustomed to the sound.

In general, it is generally accepted that generally speaking, the Rogue is a decent car to drive. Acceleration is not a problem, and two brake-based technologies–Intelligent Trace Control and Active Ride Control–help provide a smooth ride and trustworthy handling. However, I have noticed that when driving on rough or uneven surfaces The suspension of the Rogue allows the most lateral and body movement in the vertical direction that is more desirable.

Features

In the wake of the model year 2022 revamp and the new engine that will be available in 2023, this inclusion to the Midnight Edition Package may not be a big deal for 2024’s Nissan Rogue. The Midnight Edition Package boasts some design and comfort options that help push the Rogue even further ahead of its rivals by making it more stable in certain areas it was struggling in.

Although the 2022 Rogue did well in comparison to the rivals on “rear-seat comfort,” the Midnight Edition increases interior comfort and comfort by including leatherette upholstery as well as heated front seats, a steering wheel with a panoramic moonroof, as well as the power liftgate. In addition to the Rogue’s athletic design and style, the Midnight Edition Package includes:

  • Black 18-inch alloy wheels made of aluminum
  • Roof rails of black color
  • Black front grille
  • Unique black exterior badges

Every 2023 Nissan Rogue version comes with the Nissan Safety Shield 360. Safety Shield 360 is a collection of advanced active safety features, which comprise:

  • Automatic emergency brake that detects pedestrians
  • Lane departure alert
  • Warning about blind spots
  • Headlight High Beam Assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Automatic rear brakes for the rear
  • Forward collision alert

The standard infotainment options comprise Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with an 8-inch touchscreen, or a 9-inch touchscreen that is available.

The Rogue has been redesigned by removing the wheels to be ready for 2022’s model year. It instantly stood out thanks to its aggressive, hard-wearing style that was more slender than its rivals. The updated design is to be current and Nissan hasn’t altered it since then.

In 2023, however, the manufacturer provided it with an engine that is more efficient, powerful, and less bulky than the engine it was replacing. It’s the 1.5-liter turbocharged 3 cylinder which gives the Rogue 200 horsepower and can return an average of 37 mpg during traffic.

The Rogue is currently at the number. 7 on our top 10 list of small SUVs. This is an outstanding position within a vast, highly challenging field. Small SUVs are the second most-sold kind of car (only small SUVs beat these). The Rogue is the top-selling Nissan model.

Customers should be aware of the fact that Nissan offers a smaller SUV, called the Rogue Sport, which is not part of the Rogue range. The less compact Rogue Sport appears on its end of the road after this year.

In 2024, the sole major change for the Rogue is that the sleek Midnight Edition is now available in the SV trim stage. The Midnight Edition replaces chrome trim parts with gloss black. It also comes with 18-inch gloss black wheels, as well as black leatherette seats.

All 2023 Rogues run on Nissan’s brand-new 1.5-liter turbo I3 engine, which produces 200 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. The engine we tested proved quite nice offering adequate power as well as excellent fuel efficiency. Its refinement in the interior and the technology onboard are good as well.
