2023 Volkswagen GTI: Changes, Price, Release Date

The 2023 Volkswagen GTI is still a question mark. There has been no official statement from the automaker regarding this 2023 model.

Recently, Volkswagen has officially introduced to the public the VW GTI for the 2022 model. If we look at the 2022 VW GTI, which was fully redesigned, we can assume the 2023 Volkswagen GTI will appear as a carryover model. This new model is expected to carry a smaller segment with a more spacious interior design, better installation of interior knick-knacks, and sharper handling than the 2022 model. There is still no exact release date for this model since it’s still in the negotiation process.

2023 Volkswagen GTI Exterior and Interior

A little flashback to last year, the redesigned 2022 GTI comes with a more modern look than its predecessor model. Even so, fans can still easily recognize that it is a GTI model. The 2022 GTI currently circulating has a fairly noticeable upgrade design, including a slimmer front grille, X-shaped fog lights, and more unique headlights.

For the back of the current GTI model, the design has many similarities to elements that previously existed in the predecessor model. You can see the similarities in the exhaust apertures, wrapper taillights, and forked lines on the back bumper. Just anticipate that the exterior design embedded in the 2023 Volkswagen GTI as a carryover model will be more or less the same as the Volkswagen hatchback currently on the market.

If you have seen the inside of the current GTI model, you will not be surprised to find a mix of old-school and modern designs. It is called old-school because of the layout and materials used in its interior, while it is called modern because of the installation of various up-to-date technologies.

There are two display screens on the dashboard. The center console already has touchscreen capacity rather than the outdated classic switchgear. The current Volkswagen GTI transmission has a thick-bodied shift knob that closely resembles the knobs of Porsche sports cars. The air vents on the dashboard are as wide as the cabin.

All of these layouts and features make for a clean, modern design. The tartan-wrapped seating and the shape of the shift knob that supports the current GTI manual transmission are two quality touches in the history of the GTI model. Therefore, the interior of the new model should remain the same as the interior design of the current GTI.

2023 Volkswagen GTI Features and Engine

Then, what about the line of supporting features that will be embedded in the 2023 Volkswagen GTI? Most likely we will not see any major changes that the automaker will make in this feature list. This means that features that already exist in the current GTI will be used again in the 2023 GTI with a slight addition.

A Bluetooth feature, an 8.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument bundle, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 7 audio speakers, a charging pad with wireless capability, and 4 USB ports will remain standard. Besides that, there are several additions to the features that are already available, such as satellite radio, compatibility with smartphones, Wi-Fi hotspots, an audio system from Harman Kardon, and 10-inch touch screen navigation.

The engine used in the 2022 GTI is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that puts out 241 HP and 273 pound-ft. of torque. This machine has smoothly proven to be successfully paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual. The FWD system is standard for the 2022 GTI model. Again, this engine will likely be carried for the 2023 GTI since up to now there are no rumors about a better engine option.

The main security features are also currently rumored to still use the same security features as the current GTI model. Several additional security features, such as traffic sign awareness, head-up display, automatic high beam aid, and automatic park aid will be attractive options to be installed on the 2023 Volkswagen GTI.

2023 Volkswagen GTI Release Month & Price

According to Volkswagen’s customs, the automaker often launches new cars in the fall. It means we can put our hope that the 2023 Volkswagen GTI will hit the market and be sold in dealerships in the final third of 2022. Due to rumors that it is a carryover model, the price that will be pinned on the 2023 GTI will be around $30,935 and $39,385. This price is in the same price range as the 2022 GTI currently on the market. For additional information, the 2023 GTI will have stiff competition from Mazda3, Subaru WRX, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra N, and Hyundai Veloster N.
