An Overview of the 2023 Cadillac CT5 V and Its Performance

The mid-level performance variant Cadillac CT5-V—which was once referred to as the V-Sport trim—debuted in late May 2019 along with the CT-4. It was launched as the replacement for the CTS-V Sport and the XTS-V Sport.

Compared to the standard 237 HP 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder powertrain that supports the regular CT5 or the optional 335 HP 3L twin-turbocharged V6 engine, the CT5-V offers elevated to power with its 360 HP 3L twin-turbocharged V6 engine. It also provides power-controlled limited-slip differential and adaptive dampers.

Either way, these engines are combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission, with a standard RWD system and an optional AWD system. Estimations by the EPA state that the 360 HP powertrain is rated at 18/27 mpg city/highway.

It is worth noting that the CT-5 variant, albeit quite powerful, is not the dedicated V-series model that you might be thinking of. That title belongs to the highest-specs variant CT5-V Blackwing which only debuted in the 2021 calendar year as the 2022 model year. This top-ranging version is considered to be the holy descendant of the Cadillac CTS-V.

The CT5-V Blackwing is powered by a 6.2L supercharged V8 engine that puts out a whopping 668 HP and 659 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and a 10-speed automatic transmission that’s available as an option.

Interior Design and Features

Design and features-wise, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 V is expected to arrive largely the same as the previous model year. As seen from the periphery area, the model displays a modern, sporty manner. A set of 19” alloy wheels come in options of polished silver, painted bronze, and painted graphic finishes.

Previously, the whole standard CT5 and CTS V lineup received a lot of critics for its interior, but it seems like the company has made some corrections by offering a simpler design and more straightforward user interface. Still, the material quality used in the cabin doesn’t quite match its targeted market class as a luxury sedan. The rear cabin is noticeably spacious but less generous compared to the likes of the Volvo S60 and Acura TLX.

The upcoming CT5 V is expected to be equipped with the most recent version of the CUE infotainment system that supports the 10” touchscreen display mounted on the dashboard. It offers a far greater structure compared to the previous system. An option for physical control is available through a rotary knob placed at the back of the shifter. Smartphone connectivity options of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available as standard, while an 8-speaker Bose sound system, wireless charger, and a head-up display come as optional features.

The 2023 Cadillac CT5 V is predicted to retain its current standard active safety features that include rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection and more. Some optional features are including 360-degree view parking, adaptive cruise control, park assists, and hands-free driving Super Cruise.
