2024 VW Tiguan PHEV: Review & Release Date -The most recent model of the Volkswagen Tiguan has been under testing for some time now, and our most recent spy photographs suggest that the production version of the vehicle isn’t too far off. There seems to be very little concealment on the mid-size SUV being produced by the German manufacturer, which suggests that it may be ready for its public debut at some point during this year.

As we have seen in the past, it does not seem like there will be a significant amount of design-related changes made to the new model. The VW lineup of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines often uses an evolutionary design language, as seen by the impending release of the new generation of the Passat and Touareg. Because of the impending prohibition on internal combustion engine (ICE) cars in 2030 and Volkswagen’s concentration on its increasing line of all-electric ID models, this version of the Tiguan may perhaps be the last one produced by the company. 2024 VW Tiguan PHEV

Review

We anticipate that this new third-generation model of the Tiguan will remain in production right up to the year 2030, and there is a possibility that the Tiguan brand will continue to be used for an electric vehicle. The head of Volkswagen, Thomas Schafer, recently said to Auto Express that the Golf may transition into the ID family. However, he questioned if the Polo brand would be famous enough to remain as an EV, which makes the argument for the Tiguan a rather hefty order in contrast.

The front of this one displays a reworked grille with an upper piece that is closed off, which gives it a similar look to its ID brothers. On the other hand, the bottom grille has increased in comparison to prior test vehicles in order to aid with more engine cooling. This is done in order to help with extra ventilation. This bottom grille also has a different surface on it when compared to the other test vehicles that we have seen, which may indicate that there are various specifications for each model. Additionally, the front bumper was modified to include side air vents that are far bigger than before. This test vehicle utilizes rims with a diameter of 18 inches that were taken from the most recent generation of the Tiguan.

The new car seems to have dimensions that are comparable to those of the existing Tiguan, but it appears that it will expand in size to be closer to the size of the Touareg SUV. It is unclear whether or not there will be another seven-seat Tiguan to compete with vehicles like the Mercedes EQB. Significant suspension droop can be seen in the back, which may be the result of a recently installed hybrid powertrain. Also at the back, we anticipate seeing two separate rear light clusters as opposed to the one full-width LED taillight that Volkswagen typically reserves for its ID models. However, the exhausts that seem to be mounted on the back bumper are only decals and are not real.

The previous generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan was built on a stretched-out version of the MQB platform that underpinned the Golf before it, and the next model will follow a very similar path. It is recommended that the MQB Evo platform, which is used for the Mk8 Golf, Cupra Formentor, Audi A3, and Skoda Octavia, be utilized for the next Tiguan. This will enable the next vehicle to offer the same variety of plug-in hybrid powertrains as the Golf.

We may also anticipate an engine range that is comparable to that of the Golf, with a combination of gasoline and TDI diesel engines, in addition to hybrid variants. It is likely that the smaller and lighter 109-horsepower 1.0-liter engine that comes standard on the Golf will not be offered on the bigger and heavier Tiguan, which will instead begin with the 148-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder.

A variant of the eTSI that is a minor hybrid could also be included. There is a possibility that diesel variants with 148 and 197 horsepower will be carried over from the Golf, and on top of that, we anticipate seeing a plug-in hybrid model with 238 horsepower. There is a potential for Volkswagen producing a high-performance Tiguan R using running gear taken from the Golf R.

The next generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan was seen undergoing testing in the United States for the very first time in this series of covert photographs. The developers at the manufacturer hide up the outside of the crossover vehicle more fully than things originally seem to be the case.

To hide the top grille, Volkswagen installs a covering in the space between the headlights. A portion of the bottom segment is covered by a panel in addition to that portion. Behind this part are visible radiators, and there are vertical inlets located along each of the structure’s outside edges. At the very bottom, there is a splitter of some kind.

If we are to believe this prototype, Volkswagen will not be making any significant alterations to the new Tiguan’s exterior profile in contrast to the one seen on the current model. It seems as if the front fascia is more blunt. There is less definition in the folds that go down the sides.

In the back, where the taillights are, the designers are applying decals to make them appear like the design that is now in use. The exhaust pipes are hidden from view by a panel that gives the bottom portion of the bumper the same look as the bumper on the current Tiguan.

Earlier covert photographs provided us with a look at the inside of the new Tiguan. A large display that resembles a tablet protrudes from the middle of the stack. A digital display seems to be included on the instruments as well.

According to rumors, Volkswagen will employ an improved version of the model’s current basis for the next Tiguan. Volkswagen is making huge investments in electric cars, and it seems that internal combustion engines have a limited future ahead of them. Because of these considerations, the business has decided not to invest the necessary funds into developing new foundations for the crossover.

There is currently no information available on the powertrain. If an improved version of the existing platform is used, the engines could be able to be transferred over. An earlier story suggests that a version with more power is on its way, but that it will not be a full R model. In addition, a plug-in hybrid version would be made available.

According to a story originating in Germany, the next-generation Volkswagen Tiguan will reportedly also be available as a completely electric variant. On the other hand, this one would ride on Volkswagen’s MEB-Plus architecture, which is designed expressly for electric vehicles. The major manufacturing for the brand, which is located in Wolfsburg, Germany, will start producing this type in the year 2026.
