2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport R-Line: Reviews, Specs, & Price

2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport R-Line: Reviews, Specs, & Price – On the market in North America, Volkswagen has a reputation that might be described as rather intriguing. For a very long time, the majority of people have seen them as the more opulent and European substitutes for other types of inexpensive automobiles. In spite of the fact that Volkswagen had a specific fly in the ointment a few years ago from which they are still recovering, the sales of their automobiles continue to be quite successful in the United States and Canada.

Their Tiguan model, which is their smallest SUV, has been a best-seller for many years. However, Volkswagen’s earlier effort at a bigger three-row SUV, the excessively expensive Touareg, was not successful. The Volkswagen Atlas has been an enormously successful SUV since it took over for the Volkswagen Touareg in North America as VW’s biggest SUV. The new facelift for the Atlas in 2024 intends to maintain that success. 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport R-Line

Redesign

Volkswagen created the Atlas from the ground up with the North American market in mind from the very beginning of the design process. The Volkswagen Touareg was considered by the majority of VW customers to be a little bit too luxurious, and as a consequence, it was also considered to be a little bit too pricey. However, purchasing a secondhand model from the second generation is not a terrible option. This bet paid off for the German manufacturer since Atlas places a strong emphasis on practicability and usability while maintaining a much lower price point. Both the three-row Atlas and its younger sibling, the two-row Atlas Cross Sport, will get significant updates for the 2024 model year from Volkswagen.

The alterations that have been made to the exterior are easily discernible right off the bat. There is a whole new set of headlights, in addition to a new design for the grille that incorporates a lot of lighting. Even the VW emblem in the center of the dashboard is illuminated. Refreshing the R-Line vehicles’ lower front fascia has also resulted in a very apparent change in appearance. The side profiles of both vehicles stay relatively the same, but the rear ends have been updated with a light bar that spans the whole width of the vehicle, and once again, the Volkswagen logo illuminates along with it.

Interior

There is little doubt that efficiency will also increase, although as of February 2023, the official EPA fuel economy estimates for the 2024 Atlas are not yet available. The Atlas has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, which is comparable to that of a significant portion of its rivals and is a respectable number all things considered. On every model level, front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive may be added as an option. The transfer of power is handled by an automated gearbox with eight different gear ratios.

The alterations that have been made to the inside of the Atlas are likewise very significant. There is an all-new design for the dashboard, as well as an all-new digital gauge cluster and an all-new information and entertainment system. Although Volkswagen does not have the finest track record when it comes to infotainment, the company has made significant advances to enhance the responsiveness and usability of its products. Despite this, there are no actual controls for the air conditioning.

On the technological side of things, there have also been some very significant advancements. The Atlas now comes standard with upgraded voice controls, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel. Additionally, the voice controls are now easier to use. In addition, you may choose the hue of the background illumination from one of thirty various options. We had to pay extra for Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE suite of driver assistance technologies when we bought our Atlas, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that at least some of the suite will be standard on the 2024 model. The basic configuration of the Atlas allows for seven occupants, whereas the Atlas Cross Sport only has seating for five. The largest amount of space available for goods is an impressive 96.8 cubic feet.

Engine

Volkswagen has removed the VR6 engine option from the Atlas range, which is a decision that is unlikely to come as much of a surprise to anybody. The optional four-cylinder engine has also been removed, and in its stead comes a brand-new engine with a turbocharger that also has four cylinders. More precisely, a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. The dual engines of the 2024 Atlas produce 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. These values are fairly similar to those of the output produced by the VR6, and Volkswagen promises a more linear power delivery as well as an increase in low-end torque.

When It Will Be Available and Its Cost?

Volkswagen has not yet disclosed pricing information for the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport; but, given all of the additional amenities, it is quite probable that the price will go up. At this time, doing so has become standard practice in the automotive industry. For the sake of comparison, the base price of the 2023 Atlas is $35,150, while the base price of the 2023 Atlas Cross Sport is $34,460. We anticipate that the base price of the 2024 Atlas will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $38,500 and that the base price of the 2024 Atlas Cross Sport will approach $37,000. On paper, the Volkswagen Atlas now has all that is required to maintain its position as a viable contender in the market for mid-size SUVs as a result of all of these enhancements.
