2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk: Is There Going to Be a 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk? In the past few years, Jeep engineers were busy with many projects. Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer were completely redesigned. It’s now time to move on to other models in the lineup, and the next model is the Cherokee. It’s been a while since the current Jeep Cherokee was released in 2014, but it appears that the new model will be available next year as the Jeep Cherokee 2024. Officials tend to hide most of the details at this stage, but it is clear that there will be some major changes in the next generation.

The new platform will likely debut along with this model. We will also see new designs, interior layouts, and powertrain options. Jeep’s all-new Jeep Cherokee 2024 will represent Jeep within the compact SUV segment. We expect the new model to hit the market in the second half of 2024.

Overview

Jeep Cherokee 2023 comes with two trims, Trailhawk, and Altitude Lux. Both are available in all-wheel-drive. The 2023 Jeep Cherokee is available with two engines: a 2.4L unit producing 180 horsepower and 171 pounds-feet and a turbocharged 2.0L engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 295 feet-pounds. The engines all feature stop/start to improve fuel efficiency and come with the same nine-speed transmission.

Cherokee offers several safety features as standard, including a blind spot monitor, active brakes, and LaneSense, which helps with lane-keeping. For 4×4 models, Select-Terrain Traction Management System is available to assist in navigating different road conditions. The Cherokee also has anti-lock breaks, stability control with hill-start, and traction control. Other optional safety features are park assist and a button for roadside assistance.

Altitude Lux includes 17″ black aluminum wheels with heated exterior mirrors and turn signals, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 4 USB Ports, 6 speakers, Active Grille Shutters, Roof Rails, Power Driver’s Seat, Rearview Camera, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Trailhawk comes with all the same features as the prior trim, except for leather seats. It also has five skid plates, all-terrain tires, and an inch lift in the suspension. Standard equipment also includes black bumpers and 2 tow hooks (one in front, one in rear) with a towing capacity increased from 3500 to 4260 pounds. The vehicle also has a higher ground clearance.

From past experience, we knew that the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk would be an excellent highway warrior. Many of the judges praised Jeep for its smooth ride, tight handling, and mountain-road-taming abilities. However, the drivetrain was what divided our team. The power of the 4xe was not a problem, but the hybrid drivetrain confused some. The complaints ranged from simple confusion about which mode the Jeep was in (Hybrid or E-Save) to not understanding the operation of the system. Many people commented on the odd behavior of the Motor Interrupting Clasp and the Integrated Launch Element. The electric motor replaces the torque converter in the transmission, so it may feel at times like the Grand has a dual-clutch system that is not working properly.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk needed to be at its best off-road. The performance bar for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was high. It is the off-roader that represents the Grand Cherokee line and has the best ground clearance, approach, departure, and break-over angles of the entire test group. Grand Cherokee Trailhawk did not disappoint our judges, but it had a number of moments that left them scratching their heads. This resulted in a mid-pack performance rating on the trail.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk didn’t suffer much off-road but neither did it stand out. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was equipped with an electronic rear limited-slip differential. However, our team sometimes had difficulty determining if the system was engaged or not. It was confusing to see the locked differential symbol on the dashboard. The Grand Cherokee does not have an anti-sway front bar that can be electronically disconnected. This is great for assisting suspension flexing and articulation. The smaller Grand Cherokee, compared with the other competitors in the test, made it more fun to drive. However, the judges also commented that it had a firm suspension which caused a lot of jostling on rough roads. The standard ride height provides a smoother ride but reduces ground clearance. The Grand Cherokee, despite its all-terrain tire set, was the only one that got stuck on soft sand. It also became the first vehicle to fail the Hillclimb when the mud and sand got thick and sticky.

Was this a driver’s error or a lack of knowledge about the workings of electronic aids? Possibly. All these scenarios reinforced the opinion of our judges that the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is just not very well off-road. Do not misunderstand us–the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk did everything and went anywhere we asked. It was not without drama; sometimes it took more throttle or another line to complete the task. We’d have a winner if the off-roading experience was just a little bit smoother.

Exterior and interior

All our judges were in agreement that the interior design of the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is fantastically done and extremely comfortable. This was not surprising, since we have spent quite a bit of time driving the Grand Cherokee during the last year. Our tester was fitted with Jeep’s Luxury Tech III Package. The Trailhawk is a model that falls in the middle of the Grand Cherokee line-up. Our judges were impressed by the massaging seats and Nappa-leather front seats. Jeep’s Uconnect system, which has always been a favorite among the crowd, was again a top choice. It featured the fifth-generation Uconnect and a 10.1-inch center screen. Also, the team was enamored with the Alpine audio system. Our team could do without the Active Drive Assist and Head-Up Display systems that are included with the Advanced Protech Group package. Thankfully, they can be turned off or ignored. The Protech Group is also a great value for the Surround View, Trail Camera, and Head-Up Display systems. The passenger screen is useless.

The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk has a very modern and sleek exterior design. Some people have called it “swoopy”, while others call it “fast.” Some even said that the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk looked fast when it is stopped. The aggressiveness of Trailhawk tires was a big hit with our team. We also loved the design of the wheels. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is easy to enter and exit at its standard ride height. The vehicle’s adjustable air suspension allows it to be raised for off-road adventures. The Trailhawk has a higher clearance for off-roading, but there’s still plenty of thin plastic. The lower corner of the front bumper was dented by a piece of ice when we drove through a puddle. This is unacceptable.

Engine

Jeep’s 4xe hybrid plug-in is the only powertrain available for the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Jeep’s 4xe Grand Cherokee uses a turbocharged I-4 2.0-liter engine and an electric motor for 375 horsepower and 470 pounds-feet of torque. The gasoline engine produces 270 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque, while the electric motor delivers 134 horsepower and 195 pounds-feet. The engine is backed by an eight-speed 8P75PH automatic transmission.

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk’s power was impressive and its relatively low weight of 5,500 pounds helped it to top the charts on the racetrack. Grand Cherokee Trailhawk ran the quarter mile in 14.39 seconds and clocked a 0-60mph speed of just 5.83 seconds. This SUV was able to break the finish beams with a speed of 99.0 miles per hour. The Grand Cherokee was the fastest and fastest car in the test this year. Grand Cherokee was able easily to reign in its speed. It went from 60 mph down to a complete stop within 127.22 feet. The 4xe Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, although not surprising, beat the Grand Cherokee L with a 5.7-liter Hemi engine from last year’s tests, which ran 0-60 in 7.06 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 15.46 seconds.
