2024 Ford Bronco Electric: Is There Going to be an Electric Ford Bronco?

2024 Ford Bronco Electric: Is There Going to be an Electric Ford Bronco? – One of the most important reasons why the Ford Bronco Sport will not transition into a fully-fledged electric vehicle until the model year 2030 is that it will continue to use its current C2 platform until the end of the decade. AutoForecast Solutions has made public its findings on the future of the crossover with an off-road-focused design, which includes a manufacturing run that will last for 11 years.

This in no way precludes the possibility of the car receiving updates as it travels. Indeed, it will. When significantly modernizing one of its models, an automobile manufacturer does not necessarily have to switch to an entirely new chassis. Take, for example, the 2024 Ford Mustang, which employs an improvement upon the automobile platforms and engines that are now in use. In the case of the Bronco Sport, it would seem that Ford has made the decision to maintain production of the C2 platform until July 31, 2031. Its architecture also serves as the foundation for Escape, Maverick, and Focus which are sold solely in international markets.

When it comes to the Maverick, we recently broke the news that the compact pickup truck will maintain its C2 underpinnings when it is redesigned for the 2028 model year and will continue to be assembled at the Hermosillo Assembly plant in Mexico until the year 2033. This was reported in our most recent article about the Maverick. Since both models share the same design, it would make logical for all of them to transition to completely electric powertrains sometime in the early 2020s. 2024 Ford Bronco Electric

Nevertheless, it is anticipated that by the 2027 model year, the Escape will be an all-electric vehicle built on a new dedicated EV platform. It is also anticipated that Bronco Sport and Maverick would adopt that platform a few years later. For the sake of cost savings and the fact that the C2 design is capable of accommodating hybridization, it makes perfect sense for Ford to continue using the C2 architecture for the Bronco Sport and the Maverick until the end of the decade.

Review

There are, it must be said, quite a few intriguing tidbits in there, but one of the most noteworthy is a “Ford Bronco BEV” that is scheduled to be released in November 2029 and has manufacture scheduled to finish in 2036. It is supposed to be constructed on a platform known as “TE1,” which is also rumored to serve as the foundation for future electric models of the Ranger, Transit, and F-Series.

According to the same map, an electric Bronco will be sold alongside a seventh-generation gas Bronco with production beginning and ending on the same dates. Incidentally, this next-generation gas Bronco will supposedly be constructed on the same T6 chassis that serves as the foundation for the existing version. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given the diminishing availability of really innovative platforms for gas-powered automobiles as each year passes by. To illustrate this point, the new S650 Mustang is, in fact, categorized under the same D6 platform as the S550 Mustang that is being phased out.

After looking over the whole page, it is clear that there are quite a few other fascinating submissions, but the electric Ford Bronco really stands out.

While Jeep has already entered the electrical off-roader game with the Wrangler 4xe, a vehicle that was recently the subject of a significant recall and stop-sale, the company had previously claimed that it will have five completely electric vehicles by the year 2025. If we assume that one of them will be the Wrangler, then our hypothetical electric Bronco will already be behind the competition by four years by the time it is released in the year 2029.
