The Electra has been revealed to be not only a future model from Buick but an entire EV lineup. See what’s possibly offered by the 2024 Buick Electra below.
Electra nameplate has been used by Buick before and it had survived for the sixth generation long before it was axed out of production in 1990. The name was recently trademarked by the company, which is said to be given to China-released electric concept cars. General Motors must really adore the name, though, considering that it is going to be used on the whole upcoming EVs under the subdivision brand. According to Buick’s shared plans, the first electrified model should hit the North American market by 2024. Read more about the 2024 Buick Electra below.
A Brief Insights into the 2024 Buick Electra
At this point, practically no detail is known about the 2024 Buick Electra other than it is going to be powered by General Motors’ Ultium battery and motor drive. Not even the full nameplate, which is said to be based on an alphanumeric system, is revealed.
That being said, you can already take a peek at how the all-new Electra labeled EVs will roughly look like by taking a look at the newly unveiled Buick Wildcat concept car. According to the officials, it displays the fresh design language for Buick’s future products, including tick-like light parts, turbine-shaped wheels, and a low-hanging grille. Unfortunately, the coupe Wildcat EV itself won’t be materialized into a production version and Buick will continue by manufacturing SUVs only, at least for the near future.
The Likely Exterior Design to be Sported by The Electra
The new Electra is most likely to bring the new illuminated, front fascia-mounted, tri-shield badge that marks the first time Buick creates such a massive change to its logo ever since 1990. The emblem won’t sit on the grille anymore, indicating the grille may transform or entirely eliminate the EVs, according to Buick’s officials. Another logo is placed on the rear section of the car.
The headlights are horizontally placed and hanging high. Following the current trend, the LED lights offer an activated sequence, but with a more subtle light dynamic compared to what is shown by other cars.
On the vehicle’s roof, the “Buick” brand logo is plastered in a fresh, more elegant design. The EV concept car also sports another emblem on its lower fascia, “Ultra Cruise”, which signifies the technologically advanced autonomous driving feature from GM.
Electra’s Potential Interior Design and Future
The interior of the concept car, which has great potential to be found on the 2024 Buick Electra as well, has floating items such as an oval-shaped gauge panel where about sixty percent of it consists of a touchscreen display. The front-row seating area boasts airy, comfortable, and spacious cabin area. In the back-row seating area, a floating center console is placed as well.
All seats inside offer sculpted features. Acrylic trim materials used across the cabin and on the headrest give a nice, futuristic vibe. Touches of glossy aluminum can be seen as well across the cabin. A carpet in Legato Green color wrapped the floor, creating a pleasant contrast with the bright orange seatbelts.
Cockpit-style seats and a built-in AI that can detect the elevated heart rate of the driver add a modern feeling to the car. Opting for ‘Zen mode’ allows for aromatherapy diffuser function, seat massager, and dimmed lights in the cabin to be activated.
Trim Levels and Possible Release Date
If Buick gives the Electra trim structure treatment as its current model, which is completely unknown at this point, then the entry-level model should be called Preferred, followed by Essence as the mid-range trim level, and topped by the highest-price Avenir trim.
According to the manufacturer, the SUV 2024 Buick Electra EV will be revealed in 2023 and enter production in the following year. Until then, expect more official details to be dropped soon.
