The upcoming 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum comes with more standard equipment and features. What’s known so far about the highest trim level of the range?
The last refresher of the Nissan Pathfinder, which focused more on advancing its role as a practical and comfortable selection in the mid-size 3-row SUVs segment, has been remarkable. The release introduces a set of significant improvements in terms of its appearance and powertrain. This certainly cultivates some interest for the upcoming release, especially for the highest trim level in the range, the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. Discover some predictions about the model below.
The Story of Nissan Pathfinder
In the United States, The Nissan Pathfinder already owns a lengthy history. With the shift to the U.S. production from Japan in 2004, along with over 1.8 million units marketed and 35 years records, it is not an exaggeration to claim that the Pathfinder is one of the essentials in the U.S. automobile market.
The most recent Pathfinder launch, the 2022 model, is an all-new version available in four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. Let’s discuss specifically the highest trim level, the Platinum, that comes with an extra set of features compared to the others, such as 20” aluminum machined wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, hands-free power liftgate, auto-folding side mirrors, and panoramic roof.
In terms of weight, the AWD version of Platinum is the heaviest trim from this model, and it comes with giant wheels. Consequently, this specific trim offers the least fuel efficiency compared to the others. That being said, you don’t need to be disappointed. It sacrifices fuel efficiency and compensates with a wide range of luxurious features. For example, the cabin of this trim is covered with semi-aniline leather, a power tilt & telescope steering wheel, a heated system for 7/8 seats, a two-position seat memory system, and more.
Move over to the entertainment set, the Platinum boasts the most extensive digital infotainment system throughout the trim level range, with a 12” digital display, Bose premium sound system, and wireless smartphone charging. It also has six USB ports, which are more than five slots in the SL trim and four slots in S and SV trims.
A Little Upgrades From the Previous Model
While the fourth-gen of the Nissan Pathfinder seems to leave behind some of its rugged appearance aspect, the fifth-gen that comes out as 2022 model redesign presented served the touch again. The intriguing LED headlights, flat nose, flared fenders, striking grille, and most of its design are expected to be retained in the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum Redesign. In short, if the facelift indeed comes so soon, expect the model to be the crossover of the last redesign.
Therefore, the 2023 model is predicted to bring the interior from the all-new generation, where it pretty much combines modern, robust, and sporty appearances. Some of the foresighted features include stubby shift knob, minimalistic HVAC interface, clean dashboard setup, and for Platinum and SL trim levels, in particular, is the semi-aniline leather seating. Moving to the infotainment technology system, the head-up display, the digital gauge cluster, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are expected to remain.
Another aspect that won’t change much in the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum is the powertrain. It is expected to bring the same 3.5L V6 engine with the updated 9-speed auto transmission. As an available option, the users are also given a choice of 4WD.
Moreover, the safety gear of the model is to be retained as well. Even the current crash safety of the new Pathfinder generation is yet to be tested by the IIHS. The standard gear involves blind-spot warning, auto high-beam headlights, rear cross-traffic alert, auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and some optional features that can be obtained like a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, etc.
Release Date and Estimated Price
The officials haven’t said anything about the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum release date. However, if it follows the preliminary release schedule, it may sometimes arrive in the 2022 summer.
Similarly, nothing has been said about the pricing as well. Considering that the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum will not bring many updates in comparison with the current model, it is predicted not to stray far from the 2022 model’s MRSP range.
