What Kind of Car is Chevy Equinox?
Before delving in too far, you should know first what kind of car Chevy Equinox is. To be simply put, Equinox is a lineup from Chevrolet which is a compact crossover. Being said as a ‘compact-sized’ crossover, it doesn’t mean the car is super small. Instead, it is a mid-size crossover with four doors available for the passengers and one door on its back.
However, these days many people will refer to it as a compact crossover. Probably it is because the carmaker themselves made the car to befit the dimension of C-SUV class with 4,300 mm x 4,700 mm, two-row seating. Meanwhile, the size of a mid-size SUV is usually 4,700 mm x 5,100 mm.
It won’t bring much difference from the 2022 Chevy Equinox. However, to say that 2023 Chevy Equinox doesn’t bring any difference compared to its last release isn’t right either. Sources mentioned that it will bring minor improvement, marked mostly on its exterior and interior dashboard.
The Change in Its Exterior
It is expected that the 2023 version of this lineup will bring refreshment to its front grille, headlights, and its beam projector.
To be more detailed, the grille shape may be modified a bit. Following the change, the headlight may also get some ‘perm’, making it to be looking sportier as an SUV, despite being only a compact-sized one. The bumpers, too, may also get replaced with something more modern.

The Equinox Engine
Being a compact crossover doesn’t mean you cannot get a strong SUV in hand. For the 2023 version, you can get a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 1.5 L size of its displacement. Another source mentioned that the 4-cylinder engine is the upgraded level; while the most basic is the three-cylinder engine, turbocharged as well.
According to the source, the 4-cylinder turbocharged engine will provide the car with 170 HP as its maximum power production. It may not be as powerful as other SUVs, but it can be said enough to tackle ‘not-heavy-duty’ drives.
The car is expected to be equipped with automatic transmission; but a source mentioned that it will be a 6-speed transmission, while another source posed 8-speed transmission. Which one is the right one? Again, we will never know the answer until the car is officially released.
