Not every car owner favors a 4-door coupes type of vehicle, but if you do and are looking for some of the best options out there, then the A7 from Audi sure sits at the top of the list. Representing an appealing choice for a sedan, it combines handsome exterior styling, roomy cargo area, packed technology features, and refinement—just as expected from the luxury automaker. Read in the following how the 2023 Audi A7 will arrive soon for the fifth production year of the model’s second generation.
An Overview of the Audi A7
The A7 is the nameplate of an executive coupe car manufactured since 2010 by German-based automaker company Audi. It was the first fastback released under the series of C-platform by Audi ever since the second-generation Audi 100 Avant variant that was axed back in 1982.
Essentially, this vehicle is a 4-door fastback variant of the Audi A6 C7, which was built on the Volkswagen Modular Longitudinal Toolkit (MLB) platform. The current conventional sedan/wagon versions of the A6 were released after the A7. Both the A6 and A7 have similar drivetrain, frame, base structure, and interior design. However, the A7 receives its model-specific exterior body. Another difference is the majority of the A7’s façade body structure that’s built using the majority of aluminum material.
The A7 was displayed for the first time around mid-2010 in Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, Germany. Afterward, it was also shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, New York Auto Show in 2011, then at Wörthersee Tour in 2011. It started to become available in the fall of 2010.
The current generation of the A7, which is the second one, was unveiled near the end of 2017. It went on sale on the European market in late 2017 but was only officially launched in its home country in February of the next year. Finally, it debuted in North America in early 2018 at the North American International Auto Show.
The 2023 Audi A7 Engine, Fuel Economy, and Safety Features
The 2023 Audi A7 uses the same set of powertrains as it does previously: a 355 HP turbocharged V6 engine that generates up to 369 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission and is available in the Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. As a hybrid-powered car, it also uses a 49V battery-assisted hybrid system. Based on the estimation by the EPA, the A7 earns 21/30 mpg city/highway ratings.
Automatic high beams, lane departure warning, and front automatic emergency braking come standard in the A7 across the trims. Opting for higher trims of the range provides buyers with lane keep assist, cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with road sign recognition. Last year, the Premium trim acquires airbags for their side as well.
Meanwhile, for the 2023 model year, the Prestige trim is equipped with remote park assist plus as standard. Adaptive cruise assists with lane guidance are available on the Convenience package reserved for the Premium trim.
Interior and Tech Features Upgrades
As a carryover model, not many adjustments are given to the 2023 Audi A7 in the interior department. The only major one is the merging of the Black Optic and S line package that’s provided throughout the trim range now.
The A7 sports excellent interior design with appealing materials, solid switchgear, and immaculate finish and fit. All cabins across the range are equipped with leather upholstery, heated front-row seats, ambient lighting, 3-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and more. That being said, the fact that these features are exclusively controlled via touchscreens might irritate some.
In the driver’s seat, the position it provides is quite satisfying, not to mention great outward visibility. Moving to the back-row seats, some optional features such as charging ports, climate controls, and heated seats are available. The space itself is sufficient for two to three adults.
The infotainment system package that the 2023 Audi A7 brings will be similar to the last model year. The dual touchscreens connected to the center console and dashboard boast a user-friendly interface. Some standard features are including smart device integration options (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and a wireless hotspot. A wireless charging pad and 2-speaker premium B&O audio system come as optional.
Arrival Date and Pricing Details
The official release date of the 2023 Audi A7 hasn’t been announced yet, however, it’s most likely to go on sale in the late 2022 to early 2023 calendar year. The pricing range for the series varies greatly, depending on the chosen trim and purchased package. It starts from around $69,200 for the entry-level variant to $118,500 for the fully-loaded version.
