First Look: 2024 Honda Accord Reveals Sleek Exterior and Advanced Features – The Honda Accord has been a long-standing mid-size sedan, but with the rise of crossovers and SUVs, many have feared that this vehicle would become a thing of the past. However, Honda is looking to prove those fears wrong with the upcoming eleventh-generation Accord, which we’re taking a first look at.
Overview
The next-generation Honda Accord will have the same external appearance that the current generation’s sedan has. The design of the most recent iteration of the Accord is simple but sophisticated. The front fascia is characterized by slender headlamps, a rectangular grille, rounded corners, and a front air inlet that is neatly integrated into the bottom of the bumper.
When compared to earlier generations of the vehicle, the rear roofline of this one has a more pronounced rake, and there is a prominent body line that runs from the headlights to the taillights. The Accord features squared-off taillights at the back end of the vehicle that is joined by a horizontal bar. Additionally, the rear bumper of the Accord protrudes outward from the back end of the vehicle.
The inside of the current generation of the Accord has a familiar appearance that is shared with a handful of Honda’s other models. The stepped dashboard begins with a large, flat portion and gradually rises to become the location of the instrument cluster. The touchscreen is installed on the top of the dashboard, but it is moved forward and positioned closer to the front of the vehicle so that it is more convenient for the driver to access.
The sole physical control for the screen that displays information and entertainment is a single audio dial. The air vents in the sedan are concealed by a honeycomb trim piece, and the huge controls for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system are positioned on the bottom of the center console. We anticipate that Honda will keep the same basic layout of the Accord’s cabin for the 2024 model year.
Exterior Design
While the proportions and roofline of the Accord will remain largely the same, the new model’s exterior design will be noticeably more restrained than its predecessor.
The front of the car will feature slimmer LED headlamps and a trapezoidal grille, which some say exudes hints of the late Ford Taurus.
The sheet metal surfacing is fuss-free, and the taillight cluster is a full-width LED.
The overall design direction follows Honda’s recent trend of visual restraint, seen in their newer models like the Civic and CR-V.
Interior Comfort
The interior of the Accord is expected to have a restrained redesign, similar to the styling found in the newer Honda models.
This will include the use of higher-quality materials and advanced technology.
The cabin will feature a digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, and a Bose sound system.
The Accord will have a full suite of driver-assistance features, including a driver-attention monitor, traffic sign recognition, surround view monitor, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.
Powertrain
The new Accord will come in a range of powertrains, including a gasoline-electric hybrid model, which is expected to feature a 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with two electric motors.
The system will likely produce 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque with front-wheel drive.
Other powertrain options will likely include a turbocharged 1.5-liter and a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, both of which will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Rivals & Reveal
The Accord will compete with other mid-size sedans like Toyota’s Camry, Nissan’s Altima, and Hyundai’s Sonata.
As of now, an official reveal date has not been announced, but it’s expected to debut before the end of 2022 or early next year as a 2024 model.
The upcoming 2024 Honda Accord is expected to be a great mid-size sedan option, combining restraint in design with various advanced technology features and powertrains.
As we eagerly anticipate its release, it’s exciting to see how the Accord will stack up against its rivals in the fiercely competitive mid-size sedan market.
