Will There Be a 2024 Ford Edge? – Customers looking for a two-row mid-size crossover that provides desired features in a presentable package at a reasonable price have a number of options open to them, one of which is the 2024 Ford Edge. However, there are many other options accessible to shoppers as well. Although it does not produce the projected fuel efficiency on the interstate, its ride is smooth and compliant, and the basic turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine gives an acceptable performance.
The range-topping, performance-oriented ST trim level is powered by a twin-turbo V6, and its price tag isn’t too far off that of its posh corporate cousin, the Lincoln Aviator. As a result of modifications made to pricing for the 2023 model year, the basic SE variant of the Edge is the only one to have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) that is less than $40,000. The highly successful Bronco off-roader, which is the Edge’s own brand-mate, provides two different trim levels in the range of $30,000 all the way up to $35,000.
Redesign
In addition to the increase in cost, many aspects of the Edge’s trim levels have been modified. To begin, the ST models now have an interior aesthetic package that may be purchased, and the perimeter alarm option has been upgraded to become standard. Other features that were formerly optional are now standard, such as the Iconic Silver honeycomb grille with chrome surround that comes standard on SE and SEL models and the Iconic Silver fog light bezels that come standard on SEL vehicles that have the convenience package option installed.
The price of the ST variant is anything but appealing, despite the fact that it has an enhanced V-6 powertrain. To find a happy medium, we may choose the SEL model with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the middle trim level. When upgrading from the SE to the SEL model, you will receive a number of new features that more than makeup for the difference in cost. These new features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a partially digital gauge display, a nine-speaker stereo system, heated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable passenger seat, LED fog lamps, and many more.
Interior
The two-row cabin of the Edge provides enough space for four persons and is a pleasant location for commuting or traveling long distances by car. The selection of materials used throughout the interior is excellent; but, the panel fit-and-finish may be improved; in the test car, we saw a few dashboard components that were not aligned properly. Aside from it, the interior layout is simple and unobtrusive, and there is enough space both for passengers and for their belongings. If you value the ability to store items in the cargo area of your vehicle, the two-row crossover market category is an excellent facilitator. The Edge was able to hold all 29 of our carry-on baggage when the rear seats were folded down. The cargo capacity of all of its rivals is comparable to that of the Edge, although the latter vehicle’s interior offers a fraction more breathing space thanks to some smart storage cubbies.
Every Edge model comes standard with the most recent version of Ford’s Sync 4A software interface, which has a huge touchscreen display that measures 12 inches. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now common features that can communicate with one another through a wireless connection. In addition, Ford provides a Wi-Fi hotspot standard on all Edge models, but the in-dash navigation system continues to be an available option.
Engine
Even though it has a somewhat relaxed acceleration, the standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 250 horsepower and should give sufficient power to the majority of consumers. If you are searching for an SUV that can keep up with a Volkswagen Golf GTI from zero to sixty miles per hour—and quite a few other zippy vehicles as well—check the box for the Edge ST. This SUV is equipped with a 335-horsepower twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 as well as 21-inch rims wrapped in summer tires.
Although it may not feel quite as nimble as the agile Mazda CX-9, which serves as our standard bearer for the handling of crossover vehicles, the Edge ST is rather entertaining to drive and, in contrast to the non-ST variants, offers comforting stability when turning. The ride is pleasant despite the terrible road conditions, and the steering has a decent weight to it, but it does not provide a lot of information to the driver.
The EPA has not yet revealed the fuel economy ratings for the 2024 model year of the Edge; however, we anticipate that they will be the same as those for the 2023 model year given that there have been no mechanical modifications made. For the sake of comparison, cars with four cylinders received EPA ratings of up to 29 miles per gallon highway, and even the sportier ST model managed to get a rating of 25 miles per gallon highway. Only 24 miles per gallon was achieved by the four-cylinder ST-Line model during our fuel-efficiency test at 75 miles per hour. In the same test, the six-cylinder version of the ST was somewhat more fuel efficient and was able to get 25 mpg, which was in line with the estimate.
