The CT5 is one of a couple of American luxury sedans that remain, the other being its little brother the CT4. Find out about the upcoming 2024 Cadillac CT5 here.
As long as sports sedans are concerned, the CT5 has never been named as a model that offers the greatest handling or the most lavish performance either. However, its convenient alternative engines and fashionable outer appearance make it remain comparable to the likes of its competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz C-class, BMW 3-series, and Genesis G70. If you are interested in knowing the possible future of this vehicle model, read further about the predictions regarding the 2024 Cadillac CT5 in the following.
A Brief Insight into the Cadillac CT5
The CT5 is a premium mid-size sedan produced by Cadillac. It was introduced during the New York Auto Show in 2019. While it is practically a replacement for the Cadillac CTS and sits below the CT6 in the brand’s lineup, its body style design is inspired by the Cadillac 1940s fastback cars. It becomes available for sale in the fourth quarter of 2019 in the USA by providing four different trim grades, from the base Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and more performance-oriented V variant.
The CT5-V variant was introduced along with the CT4-V model in May 2019, in advance compared to the regular version. The CT5-V serves as the replacement for the V Sport models of the Cadillac CTS and XTS. Following these releases, the highest-performing variant, the CT5-V Blackwing was launched as the 2022 model year after it was announced in the first quarter of 2021.
Potentially Retained Engines Range and Hopefully Adjusted Interior
The 2024 Cadillac CT5 is expected to retain two powertrain options of its current model year: the 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 3L turbocharged V6 engine. The base powertrain puts out 237 HP while the more powerful V6 generates up to 335 HP.
Opting for the mid-level performing model the CT5-V provides a 360 HP V6 engine. Meanwhile, top-of-the-range CT5-V Blackwing is supported by a 6.2L supercharged V8 powertrain that delivers a whopping 668 HP. Regardless of the chosen variant, each of these engine options is paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox as standard and an available option of a 6-speed manual reserved for the Blackwing model.
As the next generation of the CT5 is not expected to roll out until at least the 2026 model year, the 2024 Cadillac CT5 is most likely to only bring small changes and arrive as a carryover vehicle.
The 5-passenger 4-door sedan offers pleasantly cushioned and ergonomic seats on the front row, which also provides a generous amount of legroom and headroom even for tall adults. The CT5’s cabin boasts a quiet ride both from the wind and road noises. It promotes good outward visibility whether you want to look at the front or side areas. Power adjustments and synthetic leather wraps come as standard for the front-row seats, but some optional features, such as ventilated, heated, and massaging seats and heated steering wheel functions are available as well.
The fairly low price of the CT5 seems to make it sacrifices the interior quality, which hopefully will be addressed by the 2024 model year. The cabin trim is filled with rigid and tacky plastics. The general design of the current model appears to be slightly outdated and uninspired as well, which doesn’t match the luxury status of the brand.
Estimated Production Date
The upcoming CT5 is almost certain to be assembled in the General Motors Lansing Grand River manufacturing plant located in Michigan, which also happened to be the assembly location of the Cadillac CT4 and the 6th gen Chevy Camaro. If it follows the production schedule of the current CT5 model year, then it is most likely to be produced starting from July 2023.
The CT5 was originally introduced as a model that brings an enhanced interior upon the CTS that offers elevated convenience, luxury, and refinement. As these promises seem to fall flat with the current model year, hopefully, they will be made up by the upcoming 2024 Cadillac CT5.
