BlueCruise is a beneficial hands-free driving assistance system that can be used on certain roads. In addition, it is very sophisticated and provides almost everything that Ford offers today in terms of technology. BlueCruise is one of the available features of this vehicle. 2024 Ford Expedition Max Platinum
The power of the V6 engine has left an impression on us. That kind of acceleration seems impossible for an SUV of this size, doesn’t it? After putting a 4WD-equipped Expedition Platinum through its paces, we timed its acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour at 6.9 seconds. It is nearly a second faster than a Chevrolet Tahoe of the same size and class. If you don’t mash the accelerator to the floorboard at the same time, the Expedition is a responsive and simple vehicle to operate.
When you initially push on the brake pedal, it has a small give to it, but once you get the hang of it, it’s quite simple to come to smooth stops, which is the most crucial element. This Expedition’s steering has a low effort, which contributes to the vehicle’s overall sensation of being somewhat smaller and more manageable.
There are some really great traits here for such a massive vehicle, despite the fact that you probably won’t be driving your Expedition with the same degree of urgency as the Secret Service. Even if it is not a Mercedes GLS, this does not have a clunky feel about it.
The front seats of the Expedition are very plush and comfortable. On the higher trim levels, they even include a massaging function in addition to the many zones of lumbar support they provide. The seats on the second row are rather comfortable as well. Sitting on the third row is hard, yet it is still comfortable for adults to use. Also, the Expedition has a ride quality that is rather smooth.
The temperature control on the Expedition did not quite live up to our expectations. The vents produce a rumbling sound, and their airflow is not especially powerful. If you truly appreciate it when the seats are warm, you could be disappointed with the seat warmers. The positive side of things is that the Expedition is very quiet both on the highway and in the city.
Interior
The internal area of the Expedition is used to the fullest possible extent. It is more spacious than the Chevrolet Tahoe and provides each passenger with a sufficient amount of space and comfort. The accessibility of the third row is especially amazing since even adults are able to get in and out of their seats without exerting much more effort than is required to sit in the second row.
There are quite a few buttons on the center console. While it may not be instantly user-friendly, becoming proficient with it does not take an excessive amount of time. It also has a more straightforward design than the Tahoe. The enormous pillars of the windshield make it difficult to see out the front of the vehicle. Yet, despite the fact that the rear window seems to be a mile away, a clear backup camera and an optional 360-degree video system alleviate the stress associated with backing up.
The Sync infotainment system manufactured by Ford has seen significant development over the years, and the most recent version is rather simple to use. The navigation system may have a little archaic appearance, but it does have a pinch-to-zoom feature, which helps to make it both speedy and simple to use. The 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system in our test car made effective use of the spacious interior of the Expedition, delivering both power and clarity in its performance.
The voice commands are fundamental, and they may be of assistance with basic operations. Smartphone integration solutions like Apple CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto come with a built-in wireless connection as standard. The sophisticated driver assistance features of the Expedition, such as adaptive cruise control, are functional but not nearly as fully equipped as those found in some of its competitors’ SUVs.
Specs
The EPA estimates that the Expedition will get a combined city/highway fuel economy of 19 miles per gallon. It is comparable to the estimates provided by the EPA for other big SUVs. But, when we conducted our tests in the real world, we struggled to get the same results as the EPA. One further thing to keep in mind is that in order to attain the power levels that were claimed, premium gasoline is essential. Throughout the period that we spent testing out the Expedition, we were able to distinguish between the performance that ordinary and premium gasoline provided.
The Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine paired with a fast 10-speed automatic gearbox. Its powertrain may be paired with either rear- or all-wheel drive. The engine that comes standard produces 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque; however, the output of the engine that comes standard in Limited versions is increased to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet. A variant with an output that is even greater than that is offered on the Timberline trim and on the Limited with the Stealth Performance package. This version raises the horsepower and torque outputs to 440 and 510 respectively.
In our testing facility, the Timberline model accelerated from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 5.1 seconds, which was faster than the V-8–powered Tahoe Z71 by an incredible 2.4 seconds; the Stealth Performance model shaved off 0.2 seconds from the Timberline’s time. Each and every Expedition has a rear suspension that is completely independent. Even though it has a smooth ride, the driver has a difficult time maintaining control of the vehicle due to its ungainly handling and inaccurate steering feel. The Expedition has a maximum towing capacity of 9300 pounds, however, the Expedition Max has a rating of just 9000 pounds due to its larger length.
Price
Price information won’t be made public until the Vehicle is very close to being made available. Because of the comprehensive overhaul, the base price of the 2024 Expedition will be more than that of the present model, which begins at $56,920 when the destination is included.
