The TLX has dropped an all-new generation for the 2021 model year and went through little to no change last year. See what changes are most probably offered by the 2023 Acura TLX below.
It only has been a couple of years since the second generation of Acura TLX was released, offering a vast improvement of the fine sedan in the powertrains, driver assistance, technology, and design areas. The 2023 Acura TLX will follow the step next, and hopefully, it will bring the same great value preposition as its predecessor. Read about what’s possibly going to be provided by the upcoming model year of the TLX below.
An Overview of the Acura TLX
The Acura TLX is a luxury 4-door sedan manufactured since 2014 by Honda’s premium vehicle division, Acura. Being introduced as the “TLX Prototype” for the first time and billed as the replacement of the TSX and TL models, the vehicle was designed in the automaker’s LA Design Studio. During the New York International Auto Show in 2014, the TLX production version was revealed, followed by the manufacturing phase in July and sales started in August of the same year.
The high-end sedan receives a new generational upgrade by its 2021 model year. Given an upgraded styling design that still appears to be loyal to the concept car, it also represents the high-performance Type S trim resurrection after being on hiatus for about a decade. With this revival, the TLX now provides five different trim levels: the Base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and Type S. This lineup is predicted to be maintained by the 2023 Acura TLX range.
Following the discontinuation of the Acura TLX in 2021, it’s officially confirmed that the TLX is now the flagship sedan from the manufacturer.
A Carryover Vehicle for the Next Model Year
The Acura TLX doesn’t acquire any significant update for the 2022 model year—a year after an all-new generation was released. This decision is expected to continue for the 2023 Acura TLX. That being said, the Type S trim might be given some mild enhancements. Part of why a carryover model of TLX is expected to arrive this year is because Acura is currently in the middle of heavily promoting the revival of the Integra.
All TLX trims are equipped with a 272-horsepower turbocharged 2L 4-cylinder engine, except for the highest-spec Type S that features a 355 horsepower 3L V6 engine. Whichever powertrain type it is, each of them is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive system comes as standard while the all-wheel-drive (or Super Handling-All Wheel Drive, as trademarked by the manufacturer) comes as optional. The fuel economy of the formerly mentioned drivetrain is rated at 22/31 mpg city/highway, while the latter is rated at 21/29 mpg city/highway. These figures apply across the range except for the Type S that receives 19/25 mpg city/highway ratings.
Moving to the interior side, the TLX boasts an expressive, sporty character design. In the center console, a large rotary driving-mode shifter and analog gauges are placed. To support the claimed outstanding build quality, the upscale sedan features premium cabin materials that include real aluminum and open-pore wood. Even though the lateral dimension of this vehicle feels roomy, the last seating row feels narrower compared to its rivals in the same class. That being said, the great forward visibility and adjustable front seats come as appreciable features. Moreover, it also provides a wide range of interior color options, a set of desirable interior features, and leather-wrapped seats.
In the technology features department, the TLX provides a 10.2” infotainment screen which is mainly controlled via a touchpad located on the center console, or through the physical buttons and steering-wheel buttons. Smart device integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) and wireless hotspot come as standard. The optional Advance package offers a wireless charging pad and a fancy ELS audio system. These features are expected to make another round in the 2023 Acura TLX.
The 2023 Acura TLX Price Estimation
If you are currently looking for a sedan that falls into the premium category and can offer great value, then it is worth checking out the Acura TLX. However, remember if you’re eyeing the newest TLX launch, don’t be disappointed when you find it largely similar to the previous model year.
The 2023 Acura TLX is expected to arrive at showroom dealerships before this year ends. No detail about the pricing has been revealed yet, but as a carryover model, it’s safe to assume it won’t differ much from the current TLX. As a reference, the starting price for the 2022 TLX is around $38,000 to $39,000.
